Chiropractic For Ear Infections In Children

By Jonathon Lundrigan

It isn't uncommon for youngsters to have ear infections. They're often incredibly painful to the child. Parents struggle to know what to do for the child because the youngster screams out in pain. Otitis media may be the most frequent ear infection that affects young children. They are a common reason why parents bring their child to the pediatrician. In reality, they account for more than a third of the visits. Ear discomfort, fever and irritability are the signs and symptoms associated with an ear infection.

The source of ear infections is either viral or bacterial. They are also often associated with another sickness like a cold. Ear infections become chronic for some children. Other complications such as hearing damage and other associated problems can occur if chronic infections are not treated.

The classic system of coping with ear infections is with antibiotics. Antibiotics could support if the reason for the infection is bacterial, but if it's viral the antibiotics are useless. If antibiotics are applied too frequently, drug-resistant bacteria may develop. The drugs no longer perform against the bacteria, leaving the child in discomfort. Antibiotics also destroy healthful flora or bacteria that need to exist inside the digestive tract. This may result in digestive challenges.

For some kids, chronic ear infections can result in fluid buildup in the ear. If the fluids are not cleared following numerous months, the kid's hearing may well be affected. Doctors frequently prescribe ear tubes to clear the fluid. This is a procedure that includes producing an incision inside the eardrum plus a tube is placed inside the hole made. This prevents pressure buildup and assists to drain the fluid. This procedure is efficient, but must be repeated in twenty to thirty percent of the instances. Common anesthesia is also required which could be harmful for the child.

As an alternative method to antibiotics and invasive surgery, more and more people are trying chiropractic first to help their children with ear infections. Research has proven chiropractic adjustments effective in helping children with ear infections. Chiropractic adjustments can help to mobilize the drainage in the ear which helps to prevent fluid buildup.

Chiropractors are trained to find misaligned spinal bones and correct them with distinct hands on adjustments. Precise adjustments to the upper cervical bones of the spine and occiput have proven to be efficient for ear infections. Chiropractic treatments are secure for young children and a more gentle strategy is employed.

How To Prevent Chronic Ear Infection With Regular Chiropractic Care

By Mike Pritsker

Why are younger children more susceptible to ear infections? It is because they have smaller Eustachian tube when compared with an adult's tube. As a result of this, whenever a child catches a cold, it is difficult to drain the fluid and thus the Eustachian tubes are blocked, resulting in accumulation of fluid in the middle ear and thus the infection.

There are two things surrounding the Eustachian tube that can interfere with it's drainage - muscle and vertebrae. If a misalignment of a vertebrae exist, it will press on the Eustachian tubes and prevent the middle ear from draining. Fluid will build up in the middle ear and infections will reoccur. If ear infections are left untreated, it may lead to damage of the ear drums which in turn would result in deafness and associated speech impairment.

Doctors will immediately provide antibiotics for children with ear infections. However, antibiotics can only be effective for bacterial ear infections and not on viral conditions. And although medication can cure bacterial infections, they cannot ultimately stop its reoccurrence. In addition, excessive antibiotic intake can lead to the development of a more serious drug-resistant infection. A child who experiences this ailment may possibly need to undergo some surgical management requiring general anesthesia. Obviously, this does not sound pleasant to both parents and child.

So, what then would be a great alternative for this? Chiropractic adjustment is an option that is more conventional and appeasing. A chiropractor will manipulate bones of the neck and spine in order to unblock the fluids that caused infection in the ear. This chiropractic rehabilitation will correct any misalignments, known as subluxations, in the musculoskeletal system. As a result, the drainage of fluid from the middle ear would return to normal. With consistent chiropractic care, reoccurrence of ear infection will be minimal.

Parents who cannot bear the site of surgery for their child will seek a less invasive approach. Chiropractic care is a natural and affordable option for correcting their child from ear infection. This option is called chiropractic rehabilitation. Many parents can testify how chiropractic therapy helped their child become well again. Furthermore, they can testify how chiropractic prevented reoccurrence of the infection.

In conclusion, parents know how hard it is for their children to experience ear infections. They cannot bear to see their children in pain. Early and prompt treatment is necessary to avoid serious complications that can lead to a full blown ear infection. Many parents can testify how chiropractic care helped their children from ear infections. Not only can chiropractic therapy correct the condition, it can also prevent future ear infections.

Leading Chiropractor In Raleigh Manages Ear Infections In Children Through Chiropractic Care

By Earnestine Clinger

The child with a middle ear infection is often in great pain. Many parents are faced with decisions about how to deal with it. There is one gentle and non-invasive care method that does not require prescription medication. A Raleigh chiropractor will explain how the pain is relieved through chiropractic practices.

The young baby or child has short Eustachian tubes in the ears. This structure itself is the cause of ear infections. Any virus or bacteria have a shorter way to travel to reach the middle, or inner ear. Some babies and small children suffer these painful infections throughout childhood for that reason.

Chiropractic care can alleviate the pain by helping to drain fluid from the ears. This drainage is the goal and method of clearing up infections. The child has a period of freedom from infection, which in turn, allows him or her to build up antibodies against future ear infections. As the child grows, and the Eustachian tubes grow longer, the ear infections should disappear.

Chiropractic care is a way to stop repeated courses of antibiotics. The method is drug-free and non-invasive. Some parents who are desperate yet do not want the child to have tubes surgically implanted in the ears, turn to chiropractic methods. These methods have a good track record of successful intervention.

One major advantage is being able to avoid the use of antibiotics. A series of gentle adjustments will correct what is referred to as a subluxation. This is simply the condition of a vertebra, which is one of the bones in the spine or neck, being out of place. It works by facilitating a stretching of the Eustachian tubes. This allows for drainage of fluids from the ears.

Ask your Raleigh chiropractor about this method of combating ear infections. It may not be proven scientifically, however, it has a repeatedly proven record of success. Certainly, it can be an adjunct to pediatric care. Many parents are interested in having their child cared for this way to avoid antibiotics or surgical intervention.

Chiropractic Medication for Persistent Ear Infections

By Phil Connely

Erica had been having serious and agonizing ear infections since she was 6 months in age. So far, in an insignificant forty-some months of life she had been the subject of having her ear drums punctured with tubes placed in them. She spent the majority of her life on antibiotics and various other drugs. This was a living hell of unbearable agony and sleepless nights for Erica and her mother and father.

Erica was nearly 4. Eight weeks ago this shy young girl came into my office holding the hem of her mother's skirt. Erica's mother and pop weren't quite sure why they had brought their kid to a chiropractor's office. Her mother was only following the advice of a trustworthy friend who had insisted that she bring Erica to see me.

Erica's pop was first to get right to the point. "Can you cure ear infections?" He announced, with a strange twist of hope and disbelief. "Actually," I said, "I cannot." Any trace of hope fell from the young couples face and the father's expression began to toughen. "Then why are we here?" he asked, indicating his suspicion was being confirmed that this was all a real error. "I did not say that your girl can't get better," I revealed, "only that I won't cure ear infections." In the instant of silence that followed I could feel the bewilderment welling up in their minds. With the fate of their dear girl in the balance why would I be mincing words?

Because, my buddy, it is imperative that you understand what chiropractic is, what it is not and why it's important to you and your youngster. My answer to them is my reply to you. Each of us is endowed with a potential that most never achieve. We do not achieve that potential, not because of what we lack, but because we are blocked from expressing it.

Small Erica didn't have ear infections as she needed holes in her eardrums. She did not suffer as she was deficient in some drug. She suffered because she was not expressing the full power and potential of life in her body. An awesome power had made this whole little girl from a single cell, but now something had diminished its complete and perfect expression.

If the lights in your kitchen all of a sudden all turn off you go check the circuit breaker. When a part of a person's body isn't working properly I also check the circuit breaker. In your body the circuit breaker is the spine. In Erica's little backbone I found 3 subluxations or misalignments. One was at her atlas, the top bones in her neck. The second was in her eighth thoracic backbones in the lower middle of her backbone. The third was in her sacrum, the base of the backbone. I adjusted Erica that day and sent them home with instructions to return in 2 days.

The next day I got a call from Erica's mummy. "What did you do to Erica?" she asked. A brief flush of panic went through me "the kind a doctor gets when a patient asks that kind of open finished question. "Why do you ask?" I inquired. "She slept throughout the night and she is like a different kid today!" she revealed, "She's more calm than I have ever seen her!"

I saw Erica at her next appointment and she was a different person. She climbed right up on the adjusting table without even being asked. Small children are so in harmony with their inner wisdom before they get infected with fears, cynicism and distrust. They are still dancing and singing to the inside music of their own body. We each still have this if we might only take a minute to listen. Then we might know the truth of chiropractic. It's there inside us right now.

When the difficulty is removed, when the circuit breaker is re-set, then the power that made the body has a chance to heal it. During the last eight weeks Erica's ear aches have completely vanished. Her doctor can't think the fantastic change in her condition. Now that's great ear infection home remedy.

So what am I saying, that chiropractic is a good solutionfor earaches? No! A chiropractor only fixes the subluxation "the block to your built-in power to be well. Persistent correction of subluxations is important to realizing the actual potential of your life. Nothing else corrects the subluxation, no pill, no form of stretching, only the chiropractic restructuring.

Natural Alternative For Ear Infections

By Nathan Leavitt

Ear infections are common in children. Children under the age of seven are prone to ear infections because they have a shorter Eustachian tube. They have not yet developed the resistance to bacteria and viruses that adults have. It is hard to see your child in pain and it may seem like there is little you can do. Ear infections are a common reason for a visit to the Pediatrician's Office.

A major cause of ear infections is otitis media which is inflammation of the middle ear. When the middle ear becomes infected, pressure builds up behind the ear drum (tympanic membrane) which can result in extreme pain. In severe or untreated instances the ear drum might rupture causing pus to enter the ear canal. It is prevalent for ear infections to follow a cold. Following a few days of congestion, the ear may become involved resulting in intense pain.

Traditional treatment of ear infections involves antibiotic therapy or surgical implanting tubes in the ears. It is important to understand that antibiotics will only help bacterial ear infections and not viral. This is because the antibiotics only have effect on bacteria and not viruses. Therefore, antibiotic therapy is useless for viral ear infections. Antibiotics can also kill the healthy flora (bacteria) used by the body in digestion and other functions. If antibiotic therapy is used, it is good to eat yogurt or probiotics to help replenish this good flora.

Ear tubes are often prescribed by doctors for those with repeated ear infections. This is to help drain fluid that often stays behind the eardrum. The tubes are made of plastic and are shaped like a hollow spool. The specialist places the tube through a small surgical opening made in the eardrum. The child is unconscious during the surgery. Side effects may include infection which may include a smelling, green discharge. Scarring of the eardrum may also occur which can cause damage to hearing.

Instead of conventional techniques, a lot of parents are now deciding on a conservative approach. Chiropractic doesn't treat ear infections. Having said that, it's extremely common for those with ear infections to also have spinal complications in the neck. An understanding of the nerves can help to comprehend why chiropractic works so effectively in helping lots of people with ear infections. Several parents fully grasp the positive aspects of chiropractic and report outstanding results with their youngsters following chiropractic treatment and resolving their ear infections.

How does this work? Chiropractic helps to remove interference to the nervous system. It is common for those with ear infections to also have misaligned spinal bones in the neck. When these bones become misaligned, it causes pressure on the delicate nerves that exit the spine. Some of these nerves in the neck originate from the brainstem and continue to the ear. These nerves control, monitor and regulate the ear. Pressure on these nerves from spinal problems will result in a loss of function to the ear because nerve flow is disrupted. Ear infections may be the result.

Along with misaligned spinal bones, tight muscles of the neck are prevalent. When the muscles are tense, it causes pressure on the lymphatic drainage ducts around the ear. This may cause a loss of drainage that typically accompanies ear infections. Chiropractic care will also aid relaxation of the muscles within the neck. Chiropractic is a great natural method to help those suffering from ear infections.

2 Most Common Causes For Ear Infection and How to Deal With Them

Ear infections are no laughing matter; they can come on suddenly and cause excruciating pain. Often this flare up will occur late at night or on a weekend when your physician is out of the office. This leaves you with two options, an expensive emergency room visit or trying ear infection home remedies. The latter is usually the most desirable but many people simply do not know what is safe to use in a painful ear.

Determine the Cause

The first step to knowing what kind of ear infection home remedy to use is to know the cause of your pain. Ear infections and earaches occur for many different reasons and must be addressed accordingly.

Swimmers Ear

For instance during the summer months many people like to while away the warm days in the pool, which can result in swimmers ear. Constant moisture in the ear results in an angry ear canal that is not protected by wax from harmful bacteria.

How to Cure an Ear Infection

With Home Remedies

Common home remedies for this type of condition include:

Drying- Moisture is the main cause of your problem, but drying the inside of the ear can pose a challenge. You do not want to insert a cotton swab as this can remove a protective layer of skin. Instead, use a hair dryer on low heat to dry the inside of your ear canal. Hold the dryer about 12 inches from your ear and let the air gently flow over the effected ear for about 30 seconds.

White Vinegar- Bacteria is also a culprit in swimmers ear and to treat it effectively you can drop a small amount of white vinegar or alcohol/vinegar mix in the ear. These substances act as an anti bacterial and drying agent at the same time.

Oils- You may have heard that a drop or two of oil, olive, sweet or baby is a good ear infection home remedy. When it comes to swimmers ear it is actually a better preventative measure. The oil acts as a barrier to the water and bacteria that cause this painful problem.

Quick and Easy Home Remedy for Ear Infection

Tooth Ache

If you have ever had a tooth ache you, know they are as painful as an earache. What you may not know is that one can often cause the other. Inflammation from an infected tooth in the back of the jaw can lead to a painful earache. The roots of certain teeth are close in proximity to the ear canal, so when one or the other is inflamed it can create pain in both.

Pain Relief- Many times over the counter remedies will simply not kick the pain in your ear and teeth. A great ear infection home remedy for pain is to make a heat pack. You can make your own pack easily with a sock and a cup or so of rice. Take an odd sock and pour in the rice then tie a knot in the top of the sock.

Place the sock and rice in the microwave for a few moments. Make sure the pack does not come into contact with water in your microwave, as you will have a huge mess on your hands. Place the heat pack below the ear and along the jaw line for pain relief.

Conclusion

There are many substances you can use as an ear infection home remedy. Garlic, onion, olive oil, vinegar and various other natural substances are great remedies for ear infection and the pain associated with the condition.

Ear Infection Cures - The Natural Way

Ear Infections can be extremely painful for young children and often parents feel stressed and unclear about what to do when their son or daughter is in pain. Antibiotics have long been the treatment offered by medical specialists.

However, recent studies have concluded using antibiotics does not offer much help with this painful pediatric condition. Moreover, the use of surgically implanted tubes does not seem to help either.

In order to take care of the child with frequent ear infections, a parent needs to seek the cause of the problem and not treat the symptom. Fortunately, terrific alternative therapies abound for this common condition.

There are 10 basic treatments a parent should follow to help a child overcome childhood ear infections.

1. The child should be checked by a chiropractor to see if misalignment in the bones of the neck exists. Then have the misalignments corrected.

2. Take the children off all dairy products-they are mucous forming and will drive mucous into the inner ear.

3. Take the child off refined sugars including sugar, corn syrup, corn sweeteners, turbinado sugar, brown sugar, honey, and others-sugar weakens the immune system.

4. Take all trans-fats and hydrogenated fats out of the diet. They cause inflammation of the ear tube.

5. Give the child a supplement with vitamin C and zinc.

6. Give the child echinacea, garlic, and colostrum.

7. Have the child wear a hat that covers his ears daily in the cold weather.

8. Use homeopathic eardrops to soothe the ears.

9. Use warm compresses on the ears to soothe the ears.

10. Keep her head out of the water so fluid cannot move up into the ears.

As a child begins to get well again when following these steps, it is not uncommon for him to become sick a couple of times and fight the infections without antibiotics. This is good for a child's immune system to fight infections without turning to antibiotics.

Let your child have a fever. It's good for her. Fever helps to fight infection. Let your child rest and become well. If she loses her appetite when sick, cease intake of food or supplements until the appetite returns. If your child is in pain, use homeopathic eardrops made with arnica and belladonna to relieve the ear pain.
